Mildred Faye Thornton

Mildred Faye Thornton was born in Brundidge, AL on July 16, 1938 to Vernon and Lois Wilson. She left Brundidge to attend business college in Montgomery. One of her college roommates and also dear friend introduced her to her brother, Robert Earl Thornton who became the love of her life. She shared 65 years of unwavering love and devotion with her husband Robert Earl Thornton. Together they built a cherished family legacy blessing the world with three children, seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Her nurturing spirit extended to her love for cooking, delighting in preparing meals to bring comfort and joy to those she cared for. Faye found immense joy in spending time with her family, sharing her wisdom as a dedicated Sunday School teacher, and ministering to the hearts of church members. Her passion for studying Bible history and her love language of acts of service allowed her to touch the lives of countless family members and friends, leaving a lasting legacy of compassion and faith. A dedicated prayer warrior, she found solace and strength in her faith, lifting up the needs of others with fervent prayers and unwavering trust in God. Faye was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband, Robert "Bob" Thornton; sons, Vernon (Karen) Thornton and Paul (Tammy) Thornton; and daughter, Viki (Ed Baker) Mullins; grandchildren, Jude (Brooke) Thornton, Nicholas (Uli) Thornton, Malone (Jerod) Vick, Caleb (Melissa) Thornton, Abby (Eric) Harrison, Coley Thornton, and Matthew Mullins; great grandchildren, Jenny Thornton, Joseph Vick, Millie Rae Vick, Tobias Vick, Lenya Thornton, Fisher Thornton, Ozzy Harrison and Kano Harrison; and brother, Joseph (Joan) Wilson. A special thank you to the ladies of Southside Baptist Church for their loving care and ministering to her on a daily basis. Also, to the staff at Gadsden Health Care and Rehabilitation and Pro Health Hospice. Visitation for Mildred Faye Thornton, age 85 of Southside, AL will take place Thursday, February 08, 2024, from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at Southside Baptist Church with the funeral service starting at 1:00 P.M. The burial will be at Williams Southside Funeral Home-Memorial Park. There will be no graveside service. Williams Southside Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
