Patsy Rogers Tallent

It is with deep pain and sorrow, that we announce the passing of our sweet Mother and Grandmother, Patsy Laura Rodgers Tallent, on July 29, 2024. (2 Corinthians 5:8). Chapel service will be Friday, August 02, 2024, at 2:00 PM, visitation will be from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Williams Southside Funeral Home and Memorial Park. Dr. Chris Terrell, Pastor, will officiate. Patsy was born in Coleman, Texas to Howard Roy and Flora Matilda Rodgers on March 28, 1939. She was one of six siblings. The family moved to Mineral Wells, Texas while she was still a young child. Mineral Wells was built around its healing mineral waters and was once home to Camp Wolters, United States Army Primary Helicopter School. Patsy was working at the Crazy Water Hotel, known for its spa and healing mineral baths when she met her future husband, stationed at Camp Wolters. Their union moved her to Alabama and made Rainbow City her home. Patsy was a long time faithful member of White Springs Baptist Church where she served in many different roles. She was the cheerleading sponsor for Walnut Park Elementary School from 1968-1972. She was part owner and operator of Tallent's Custom Meat Processing Plant during the late seventies. She was a graduate of Gadsden Business College and Keevil Curl School of Beauty. She was a master seamstress and enjoyed making quilts, formal gowns and uniforms for friends and family. She was an avid read-er. She had a vast knowledge of flowering and edible plants and enjoyed working in her yard and growing beautiful flowers. She enjoyed all things homemade and baked the best apple crunch and banana nut bread. In her words, of all of her life accomplishments, being a Mom to her three children was her greatest joy and greatest gift. She wrote: " A Prayer for My Children, that they have a full and happy life, filled with love and satisfaction and contentment and a deep abiding faith that will see them through adversity. May I say the same for my grandchildren," Patsy was preceded in death by her siblings: Mary Ann (Royce) Lucius, John Roy Rodgers, Michael James Rodgers, Lola C Copeland and Charles Roy Rodgers. Patsy leaves behind her children: Mike (Ginger) Tallent, Sheila (Mark) Hallmark and Jeanie Morrow, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A special thank you to the staff at Riverview Regional Medical Center, Dr Deborah Reiland, and the staff at McGuffey Healthcare.
