Mr. Boyd Franklin Bell

Boyd Franklin Bell, 91, of Southside, Alabama, met his Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at Northside Health Care in Gadsden, Alabama. Graveside services will be held on Sunday, July 14th at 2:00PM at Williams Southside Funeral Home , 1009 Highway 77 in Southside, Alabama. Graveside will be led by Bill Thornton and music by Bill Drummons. The family will receive friends from 12:00PM to 2:00PM prior to the graveside service. Mr. Bell was born on October 13, 1932 to R.D. and Mattie Bell. He was the last surviving of their nine children. Mr. Bell started his career at Turner Dairy in Oxford, Alabama. He worked for Moore Handley and retired as stock holder and general manager of Etowah Builders Supply in Rainbow City. He was an active member of the Men’s 70’s and older Sunday School Class at Southside Baptist Church, an avid fisherman and gardener and enjoyed Alabama Crimson Tide Football. Mr. Bell was happiest working in his garden and being surrounded by his wife, family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Emma Allred Bell and daughters, Lisa Bell Amberson, Fran Bell Clayton, Amy Bell Bailey (Tim), Leigh Bell Millhoff (Jon) and son-in-law, Jimmy Whittemore (Tammie). He was preceeded in death by his oldest daughter, Kaye Bell Whittemore. He was the grandfather of Lesley Whittemore, Andrew Whittemore (Jessica), Matthew Amberson, Katy Kelly (Caleb), Miller Clayton (Alana), Kirbie Stewart (Mitchell), Langlie Mintz (John Mark), Weston Bailey (Caroline), Lucas Millhoff (Lora) and Averi Foster (Colby). He was the great-grandfather of Alyssa Coley, Drew, Anna Grace, William and Mason Whittemore, Miles Kelly, Kreed & Aspen Clayton, Abbott & Ellis Bishop Stewart, James Henry Mintz and McCain, Mills and Meade Millhoff. Pallbearers will be Andrew & Drew Whittemore, Matthew Amberson, Miller Clayton, Lucas Millhoff and Weston Bailey. Honorary Pallbearers - Tommy Robertson & Mike Huie. The family will receive flowers or donations can be made in his memory to the Answer the Call Building Fund at Southside Baptist Church, 3975 Highway 77, Southside, Alabama 35907. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Northside Health Care, Coda, Karen, Jordan, James and many others who loved and cared for our husband and father daily. Enhabit Hospice, Brandon and Kayla. Dr. Jason Ayres, Bill Thornton and the Men’s 70’s and older Sunday School Class, Myra Pentecost and the Women’s 70’s and older Sunday School Class. Special friends Tommy & Sally Robertson and Bill & Sondra Drummons. Mr. Bell will be missed by many but we know he is reunited with the ones who have gone before him, no longer in pain and has been made whole again. Today he is in his Heavenly Home. Williams Southside Funeral Home and Memorial Park is in charge of arrangements.
